A 70-year-old man was found murdered at his home in Siddanthi Colony in Shamshabad on Monday night. The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) police have taken two individuals into custody in connection with the murder.

The deceased was identified as Soudaiah, who was allegedly attacked by a duo between 7 p.m. and 10.30 p.m. The incident came to light when his wife, Shanta Amma, returned home around 10.30 p.m. after leaving the house earlier that evening following a minor quarrel.

According to RGIA Inspector K. Balaraju, she found her husband lying in a pool of blood and alerted an ambulance team, who declared him dead on arrival. Officers from RGIA police station soon reached the scene and began an investigation.

The couple, who have no children or extended family living with them, were residing alone in the colony. The official said that two neighbours have been apprehended in connection with the murder. “Preliminary findings suggest that the deceased frequently abused the suspects and used to speak to them in vulgar language, leading to tensions. The men attacked him with a boulder in a fit of rage when he was alone, causing serious injuries, and fled from the spot,” said the official.

A case of murder has been registered and further investigation is under way.
