Chaos unfolded at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on Wednesday (December 3, 2025) morning after 19 IndiGo flights, both arrivals and departures, were cancelled, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded with little clarity on alternative arrangements.
Check latest flight status before heading to the airport
The RGIA management said the disruptions were caused by crew constraints. IndiGo in a statement issued on Wednesday afternoon said, “We have had several unavoidable flight delays and some cancellations in the past few days due to various reasons including technology issues, airport congestion, and operational requirements. Our teams are working diligently to ensure that operations normalise as soon as possible. Furthermore, we are offering alternate flight options or refunds to affected customers, as applicable. We regret the inconvenience caused to our valued customers due to these disruptions. We request customers to check the latest flight status before heading to the airport, to help us minimise inconvenience.”
List of cancelled arrivals
According to airport sources, the cancelled arrivals included services from Visakhapatnam, Goa, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Madurai, Hubli, Bhopal and Bhubaneswar. The affected flights were 6E 6286, 6E 206, 6E 6337, 6E 2255, 6E 6360, 6E 295, 6E 6092, 6E 886, 6E 7416, 6E 247, 6E 7122 and 6E 631.
Cancelled departures
Departures that were cancelled included 6E 2051 to Delhi, 6E 6361 to Bangalore, 6E 240 to Delhi, 6E 922 to Bhubaneswar, 6E 413 to Bangalore, 6E 7417 to Hubli and 6E 7121 to Bhopal.
Among those caught in the disruption was Shankar Narayan, whose flight from Hyderabad to Bhopal was cancelled after multiple last-minute schedule changes. He told The Hindu that he began receiving messages on Tuesday evening informing him that his 10.50 a.m. flight had been rescheduled repeatedly. The departure time was advanced to 10.30 a.m. and then again to 10.20 a.m.
The situation worsened on Wednesday morning. “While I was on my way to the airport around 7 a.m., I got an e-mail saying the flight was cancelled. There was no call. After an hour, there was a recorded call saying the same thing,” he said. With no alternative flights available, he began travelling by road to Bengaluru to catch another connection, as he needed to be in Bhopal the same day.
Fares rose sharply
According to him, passengers were only given the option to cancel or reschedule their bookings, and fares on other airlines had risen sharply. “Air India tickets are exorbitant. It is three to four times the usual cost,” he said.
Frustration spilled onto social media as several passengers took to X to highlight the delays. Videos circulating online showed heated exchanges between travellers and airline staff.
A passenger posted on X saying “Sir, kindly look into the situation at Hyderabad airport. Flight 6E413 was cancelled and the next flight 6E151 was delayed. I have been stranded since 3 a.m. and have missed an important meeting,”
Another traveller posted, “I am at Hyderabad airport waiting for my Udaipur flight. It was first delayed to 1.55 p.m., then 2.55 p.m. and now 4.35 p.m. Is this a joke? I was informed only three minutes before entering the airport.”
