A junior assistant, who was also serving as the in-charge sub-registrar at the Tandur Sub-Registrar Office, was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹16,500 from a complainant. Two private individuals were also taken into custody for acting as conduits in the transaction.
The accused official, identified as Sai Kumar, was trapped by officials of the Rangareddy range after he allegedly sought money from a complainant to hand over four documents that had been registered a week earlier and to process an additional seven documents.
The bribe was reportedly routed through a document writer, D. Saikumar, and an assistant document writer, D. Ashok, both attached to a private establishment opposite the Tandur SRO.
The ACB said Ashok received the bribe on behalf of the sub-registrar, and the cash was later recovered from the possession of Saikumar.
All three accused were arrested and produced before the special court for SPE and ACB cases in Nampally. Officials said the complainant’s identity has been withheld for security reasons. The ACB urged people to report any demand for bribe through its toll-free number 1064 or via its official social media channels, assuring that complainants’ details would remain confidential.
