Forest watcher injured in wild gaur attack in Idukki

A forest watcher sustained serious injuries after a wild gaur attacked him at the Periyar Tiger Reserve (PTR) in Thekkady on Wednesday.

Vairamuthu, a forest watcher, was part of a forest department team engaged in tiger census in the reserve at Kuttamkunnu, near Seeniyaroda, when a wild gaur attacked him around 3 p.m.

Mr. Vairamuthu was immediately transported by boat to Thekkady boat landing. He was initially admitted to Kumily Government Hospital before being transferred to Theni Medical College Hospital in Tamil Nadu for further treatment.
