H.D. Revanna, former Minister and JD(S) leader, has alleged that private lobbies took over vast tracts of government lands on the outskirts of Hassan city and developed layouts illegally.

In a press conference at Hassan on December 3, Mr. Revanna said that the government lands spread over Chikka Kondagola, Erebare Kaval, Lakshmipura, Doddakondagula, Handinakere, Uddur, Samudravalli, Boovanahalli, and surrounding areas had been developed into private layouts. The private lobbies developed the land in a joint venture with local people. Eventually, they cheated farmers and other locals, besides causing a huge loss to the State exchequer.

Mr. Revanna said he had raised the issue a year ago and sought an inquiry. However, no inquiry has been conducted so far. “I wish the Chief Minister, who will visit the district on December 6, takes note of this development, orders an investigation into the issue, and takes action against the officers concerned,” he stated.

Swaroop Prakash, Hassan MLA, who was also present at the press conference, said that he would raise the issue in the legislature session beginning at Belagavi on December 8.
