Reiterating that the Congress government filled 60,000 posts in its first year of rule, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said that another 40,000 posts will be filled soon to reach the one-lakh mark within two-and-a-half years of completion of Praja Palana (Congress rule) in Telangana.
He was addressing a public meeting in Husnabad of Siddipet district on Wednesday evening, where he laid foundation stones for various development works worth around ₹262 crore. These include a spacious building of the newly set up College of Engineering, Satavahana University, to be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹44.12 crore in Husnabad.
He said that the previous BRS government betrayed the aspirations of unemployed youths and thrusted a misrule on the State.
The Congress government endeared itself with youth and all sections of the society by implementing a plethora of welfare schemes, he added.
Kasoju Srikantha Chary sacrificed his life for the cause of separate Telangana during the statehood agitation, he recalled, affirming the commitment of the Congress government to empower youth and create job opportunities for them to fulfill his (Chary’s) ideals. Industrial Training Centres (ITIs) have been upgraded to Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) to hone the skills of youth and make them job-ready, he noted.
Invoking the legacy of Sarvai Papanna, the 17th century great warrior, he said that the Bahujan leader rebelled against the feudal power and defended the rights of oppressed sections. “This is the land where the foundation for Bahujan Rajyam has been laid under the leadership of Sarvai Papanna,” he remarked.
“People of Karimnagar district played a crucial role in achieving Telangana State. Our leader Sonia Gandhi promised statehood to Telangana during a public meeting in Karimnagar in 2004 and fulfilled it in 2014, realising the six-decades old dream of people of Telangana.”
“I have met Ms. Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi today and invited her to attend the Telangana Rising global summit to be held on December 8 and 9 in Hyderabad,” he said, adding that Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have also been invited to the mega event.
Mr. Reddy said, “Despite being in power for nearly 10 years, BRS rulers failed to complete the Gouravelli project in Husnabad constituency and our government is determined to complete the project expeditiously.”
The Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, constructed by the previous BRS dispensation, has become defunct while the SRSP and other irrigation projects, built by successive Congress governments several decades ago, continue to serve farmers, helping the State achieve record paddy production.
“It is imperative to elect leaders with commitment in the ensuing Gram Panchayat elections to usher in development in our villages,” he said.
Minister for Backward Classes Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar also spoke.
