Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy has demanded the immediate withdrawal of the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation Policy (HILTP), calling it ‘anti-people’ and accused the Congress government of attempting to sell public lands to cover up financial mismanagement.

Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi, Mr. Reddy alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, after failing to sell Hyderabad Central University land and being pulled up by the Supreme Court, has now ‘opened the doors to a massive land scam under the pretext of HILTP’.

The policy, he said, allows conversion of industrial estates within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) into commercial real estate zones, pushing industries out of Hyderabad. “The GO has been brought in solely to benefit large real estate lobbies. Mr. Revanth Reddy’s actions clearly show that personal interests outweigh public welfare,” he charged.

Mr. Kishan Reddy criticized the government for taking a major decision without consulting elected representatives, industry workers or industrial owners. “Did the government even consider the fate of workers dependent on these industries?” he asked.

He further alleged discrimination against farmers, pointing out that those in suburban conservation zones are barred from converting their lands or even building houses, while industrialists are given freedom to convert theirs. “This is a betrayal of farmers and a denial of justice,” he said.

The BJP leader also raised concerns about civic infrastructure, air pollution and traffic congestion if more high-rises come up. “Was any study conducted on traffic, drainage or infrastructure impact? Telangana society strongly suspects large-scale insider trading around these industrial zones,” he claimed.

Mr. Reddy demanded an unconditional apology from the Chief Minister for his remarks on Hindu faith, warning that people had punished BRS for similar comments in the past and would do the same to Congress.
