Advocates staged a demonstration in front of Tirunelveli district court in Palayamkottai on Wednesday, demanding the cancellation of the e-filing system.
Speaking at the protest, Rajeswaran, president of Tirunelveli Bar Association said that the e-filing system has been in practice in the high courts and supreme court since 2023 and now it is being gradually implemented in subordinate courts as well.
“The server capacity of the website used for the e-filing system is inadequate, and sufficient infrastructure facilities have not yet been developed. We request that the e-filing system be postponed for five months until adequate infrastructure facilities are provided,” he added.
Noting that advocates protection bill is yet to be implemented, by both central and state governments, he urged that it must be enacted immediately.
At the protest, the advocates also urged the government to increase the death benefit fund from ₹10 lakh to ₹20 lakh.
Tirunelveli bar association secretary Manikandan, joint secretary Anu Praveen and other advocates from the bar council were present at the protest.
