All India Railway Weightlifting Championships kicks off in Vizag

The 72nd Men and 11th Women’s All India Railway Weightlifting Championship 2025-26, organised by East Coast Railway Sports Association, Waltair, commenced on Wednesday at the Waltair Railway Indoor Stadium. The event will run from December 3 to 6, 2025. Nearly 82 men and 80 women weightlifters representing 15 zonal railway/production units, from various States and organisations are participating.

The championship with weigh-ins and competitions, features competitions across multiple categories including in the men’s section — +110 kg, 110 kg, 94 kg, 88 kg, 79 kg, 71 kg, 65 kg and 60 kg and in the women’s events in +86 kg, 77-86 kg, 69 kg, 58-63 kg, 48-53 kg, said senior divisional commercial manager K. Pavan Kumar.

Divisional railway manager and president ECoRSA, Lalit Bohra inaugurated the event in the presence of ECoRWWO president Jyotsna Bohra, ADRM (Infra) E Santharam, ADRM operations K Rama Rao, sports officer and Senior DFM M. Haranath, Dronacharya Awardee Sunil Kumar, tournament director of Indian Weight Lifting team N. Usha, weight lifting secretary Suresh, in charge weightlifting G. Venkata Rama and others.
