The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the city police arrested a 55-year-old man for impersonation and forgery of land documents in Neelankarai on Wednesday.

During an investigation based on a complaint filed by M. Sivaganesan, it was found that the Highways Department had acquired 1,050 sq.m. of his land on the ECR for a compensation of ₹16 crore. Subsequently, one C.A. Natarajan of Alwarthirunagar near Vadapalani registered a sale deed handing over the land to the department using forged documents at the Neelankarai Sub-Registrar Office, and received the compensation.

The CCB arrested Natarajan. He was later produced before a judicial magistrate and sent to prison.
