Erode native held for job fraud in Coimbatore

The cybercrime police in Coimbatore have arrested a man hailing from Erode on charges of cheating a man from the city of ₹3.5 lakh by promising a job for his son abroad. The police said K. Arun (42) of Chinna Chettipalayam in Erode district was arrested on Wednesday.

According to the police, Daniel Abraham from Chinnavedampatti in Coimbatore lodged a complaint with the cybercrime police against Arun for job fraud.

The complainant said that his son got introduced to an unknown person on WhatsApp, who claimed to be the owner of a company in Armenia. The person informed his son that he was recruiting candidates for hotel management jobs in Australia.

The stranger later insisted on the complainant for making payment for visa processing, following which the latter paid him ₹3.5 lakh. The complainant approached the cybercrime police as there was no response from the stranger after the payment.

The cybercrime police registered a case in connection with the cheating and identified Arun as the fraudster. The police arrested him on Wednesday and he was remanded in judicial custody. The accused has cases against him in Tiruchi district and Salem city.
