Three persons, earlier arrested for transporting ganja in two separate cases, were sentenced to undergo jail terms by a Khammam court on Thursday (December 4, 2025). The court also slapped a fine of ₹1 lakh each on the accused.

In the first case, the court sentenced 31-year-old Bagh Chand Bairwa of Rajasthan to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment. He was arrested on January 9, 2024 by the District Task Force (DTF) officials at Warangal X roads in Khammam town while he was transporting 22.150 kilograms of ganja. The case was registered by the Khammam Town excise station.

In a separate case from April 2022, the same court handed 10-year prison terms and fines of ₹1 lakh each to Kanukurthi Sai Naveen and Nerella Sriramulu. The two were among four individuals detained near the new bus stand in Khammam while attempting to transport 7 kilograms of ganja to Suryapet on a motorcycle. Two other accused, Marushwar Rao and Battu Harish, remain absconding.
