Man stabbed to death over land dispute, in Puthatharuvai village near Sathankulam on Wednesday.
According to police, the deceased M. James Sithar, 55, from Puthantharuvai, had been residing in Thattarmadam police quarters, as his wife works as Special Sub Inspector at the Sathankulam police station.
However, it is reported that James had a long standing land related dispute with Jacob Thangapandi, 44, from Puthantharuvai village. On Wednesday, when Jacob confronted James near the disputed land, the two get into an altercation. During the argument Jacob stabbed James fatally and then fled the scene.
The severely injured James was rescued by nearby residents and taken to Sathankulam government hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
A case has been registered at Thattarmadam police station, and Jacob was arrested on Thursday.
Further investigations are under way.
