Two plays to be staged in Shivamogga

The Rangayana Shivamogga will stage ‘Nammolagobba Gandhi’, a play written by D.S. Chougale and directed by noted director Chidambararao Jambe, at Suvarna Samskruthi Bhavan in Shivamogga on Friday at 6.30 p.m.

Mr. Jambe has directed the play for the repertory artists of Shivamogga Rangayana. The entry is free, said a Rangayana release.

Shivamogga Rangayana will be felicitating Prof Rajendra Chenni, socialist Konandur Lingappa, and folk artist Takappa, who were honoured with the Rajyotsava Award this year, on the occasion. Rangayana director D. Prasanna Sagar will chair the programme.

Spandana, a theatre troupe in Sagar, will stage Prana Padmini, a play directed by Manjunath L. Badiger at Kuvempu Ranga Mandira in Shivamogga on Sunday at 7 p.m. Mr. Badiger has adapted Belgian playwright Maurice Maeterlinck’s play Monna Vanna into Kannada.

M.V. Prathibha, founder of Spandana, has appealed to theatre lovers of Shivamogga, to watch the play. The entry ticket costs ₹50.
