CRDA gives nod for LPS-2, construction of Lok Bhavan in Amaravati

The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) meeting held at the Secretariat on Thursday gave its nod for the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) -2 to undertake major projects in Amaravati like the international airport, quantum valley, an international sports city, and inner ring road and construction of ‘Lok Bhavan’ , the Governor’s residence within the Amaravati Government Complex at a cost of ₹169 crore and AP Judicial Academy at a cost of ₹165 crore. 

Addressing the meeting, CRDA Chairman and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the government buildings should be creative and visually striking and embellished by greenery, while recalling that extensive studies were done in the past specifically for the designs of buildings in the capital city. 

The meeting resolved to raise a loan of ₹7,380 crore from NABARD for infrastructure creation in Amaravati and gave approval to invite tenders worth ₹532 crore for connecting the E-3 Seed Access Road with NH-16. 

Officials told the Mr. Naidu that 85 construction works including government buildings, residential quarters for ministers, public representatives, All India Services officers, judges, and government employees as well as roads, electricity and water supply were progressing rapidly in the capital region.

He ordered that the construction quality should meet high standards and be completed in the stipulated time with due focus on beautification. 

Further, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu told the officials to install an iconic statue of N.T. Rama Rao at Neerukonda as a symbol of Telugu self-respect and glory and to study various national and international projects for shaping it up in the desired manner with people’s participation. ​

Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister P. Narayana, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, Principal Secretary (MA&UD) S. Suresh Kumar, CRDA Commissioner K. Kanna Babu and Amaravati Development Corporation CMD D. Lakshmiparthasarathy Bhasker were among those present. 

Speaking to media persons later, Mr. Narayana said 16,666 acres of land was being pooled under the LPS-2, for which the consent of farmers has been obtained. The CRDA also planned to widen the Amaravati Karakatta (Krishna river bund) Road to four lanes and necessary steps were being taken. The construction of government officials’ residential quarters was targeted to be completed by the end of March 2026, he added.
