Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader K. Surendran has accused the Congress of protecting Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkoottathil, who was expelled from the party following rape allegations.

Addressing a meet-the-leader programme organised by the Calicut Press Club here on Friday (December 5, 2025), the former BJP State president claimed that the Kerala government was also playing a “hide-and-seek” game by delaying the arrest of the suspect.

According to Mr. Surendran, the State government was found dragging out the matter to keep it burning. Many women Congress leaders had already filed their complaints against Mr. Mamkoottathil to All India Congress Committee general secretaries Priyanka Gandhi, MP, and Deepa Dasmunshi, he claimed.

Referring to the ongoing local body election campaigns, the BJP leader said the United Democratic Front and the Left Democratic Front were found encountering the elections with their lost faces. He also said that the State government was scared of any investigation by the Enforcement Directorate as it would unveil the suspected roles of some of the Ministers in the Sabarimala gold theft case.
