One college student dies, three suffer injuries in accident near Coimbatore

A student of a private college near Kinathukadavu in Coimbatore district died and three of his friends suffered injuries after the two motorcycles they were riding hit a truck on Friday.

The police said that R. Jegatheeshan (21) of Surakkapatty in Karur district died in the accident. K. Vasanth (21) of Neethi Ammal Nagar on PN Road in Tiruppur, S. Prabhakaran (21) of Old Post Office Street at Gudimangalam in Tiruppur district, and Mohammed Ghouse Khan (21) of Sethampalli near Chinnamanaikkanpalayam in Coimbatore district suffered injuries. 

The accident occurred at Kondampatti near Kinathukadavu at 1.30 p.m. The police said the two motorcycles travelled by the students rear-ended the truck when its driver Mani Murugan took a right turn onto the road after unloading goods.

Jegatheeshan suffered severe injuries and was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital, Pollachi. Doctors declared him dead on arrival. Mr. Vasanth suffered a head injury. Mr. Prabhakaran and Mr. Khan suffered leg injuries.
