An awareness programme on safeguarding students and youth from getting addicted to the online games was held here on Friday.
After organising this event at Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Tiruchi, it was conducted here on Friday with the objective of saving the younger generation, especially the students from getting addicted to the online games and illegal online gambling.
Retired IPS officer and member of Tamil Nadu Online Gaming Authority (TNOGA) M.C. Sarangan, who presided over the awareness programme, said the TNOGA, after closely monitoring the unlawful online games and online gambling websites, would recommend to the Central Government through the State Government for banning these websites. Due action was being also taken against the social media platforms and the advertisements enticing the youth towards online gaming.
āMoreover, the TNOGA is also taking action based on the complaints from the public,ā said Mr. Sarangan.
Psychiatrist V. Venkatesh Madhankumar and Professor of Electronics, Anna University M. Manikandan addressed and interacted with the participant students to clarify their doubts.
Superintendent of Police N. Silambarasan, Deputy Commissioners of Police Vinodh Sanatharam and Prasanna Kumar and Assistant Collector (Training) Dhawlendu were present.
