Around twenty thousand people, including teachers, are expected to participate in the felicitation programme of Basavaraj Horatti, chairman of Karnataka Legislative Council, to be organised in Hubballi on December 13 to mark him completing 45 years as MLC.
Shankranna Munavalli, chairman of the Basavaraj Horatti Felicitation Committee and director of KLE Society; Rajanna Koravi, Secretary; MLAs N.H. Konaraddi and Mahesh Tenginakai; MLC Pradeep Shettar; Ex MLC Mohan Limbikai addressed a joint press conference in Hubballi on Friday, giving details of the mega felicitation programme which will be held at Nehru Stadium in Hubballi.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader, Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi and H.D. Kumaraswamy, former Chief Ministers and Ministers are expected to participate in the programme organised to honour Mr. Horatti.
Mr. Munavalli said that Mr. Horatti would be brought to the event venue in a procession from Lamington School to the stadium and they were expecting around 20,000 people in the programme.
Mr. Konaraddi and Mr. Tenginakai said that Horatti’s contribution to the State politics and to the field of education was immense, and leaders from all political parties and eminent personalities from different walks of life had joined hands to felicitate the veteran leader.
V.S.V. Prasad, managing Director of Swarnaa Group of Companies, and others were present.
Already series of preparatory meetings have been held for the successful conduct of the felicitation programme. Many of the leaders of all political parties and legislators are expected to participate in the felicitation programme as all of them will be in Belagavi for the legislature session, which will begin from December 8.
