Two men transporting ganja rom Berhampur in Odisha to Mumbai were arrested during a joint operation by the Secunderabad Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Eagle team of the Telangana Anti Narcotics Bureau on Friday (December 5). The officials seized 6.863 kg of contraband along with two mobile phones used for the commission of the offence.

The accused, identified as Muna Prusty, 20 and Tikash Kumar Barik, 23, both from Ganjam district in Odisha were taken into custody following surprise checks on platform 10 of the Secunderabad Railway Station, where officers found the duo carrying a trolley suitcase packed with the substance.

Police said three other suspects, Ashish from Berhampur, and Jayesh and Shubam from Mumbai, remain absconding.

Investigation revealed that Prusty and Barik had been working in different States for employment. During Prusty’s time in Mumbai, two men he knew required marijuana. Prusty contacted Ashish in Odisha, who agreed to sell it at ₹5,000 per kilogram. Police said Prusty then inflated the price, claiming it cost ₹15,000 per kilogram, and collected ₹30,000 in advance from the buyers. He later travelled to Surat, met Barik, and shared the plan with him. The pair went to Berhampur, procured the substance from Ashish, and boarded the Konark Express on Thursday (December 4) to transport it to Mumbai.

They were arrested when the train reached Secunderabad on December 5. A case was booked and further investigation is under way.
