ECoR GM conducts on-site inspection of works

East Coast Railway (EcoR) general manager Parameswar Funkwal conducted an on-site inspection of the third and fourth line works between Visakhapatnam-Gopalapatnam and Vadlapudi and Gate Junctions, here on Saturday (December 06, 2025).

The inspection aimed at assessing the project milestones and ensure timely completion in line with operational and safety standards for enhanced railway capacity and efficiency, Waltair Railway Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra said in a press release.

He also inspected the Simhachalam station to review the progress of the Amrit Bharat Station redevelopment works. He reviewed various developmental activities, station building works, provision of amenities, and other facilities. The Amrit Bharat station is an important project for providing high standard passenger amenities and modernised facilities at important tourist and pilgrim destinations, the release added.

Mr. Parmeshwar Funkwal graced the concluding ceremony of the 72nd Men’s and 11th Women’s All India Railway Weightlifting Championship 2025-26. The event showcased exceptional athletic talent across Indian Railways fraternity, featuring 180 weightlifters representing 17 teams from various railway zones and competing in 16 Men and Women categories. The championship fostered a spirit of sportsmanship and promoted a culture of fitness.

He also attended the 63rd Civil Defence Day celebrations and the joint Civil Defence demonstration by East Coast Railway and South Eastern Railway.

Earlier, Duvvada Railway Users Association met the general manager to submit a list of pleas including the halt of Vande Bharat train at Duvvada railway station, request for extension of halted time to five minutes instead of two minutes for originating trains starting from Visakhapatnam.
