A youth and his younger sister were killed in a freak road accident at Marthandam on Saturday.
Police said V. Ranjith, 32, a service engineer, of Payittruvilai near Neyyatrinkara in Kerala was bringing his younger sister, a nurse, on his bike to drop her at her workplace in Marthandam on Saturday. When he was crossing the Marthandam flyover, a car proceeding from Marthandam to Kaliyakkavilai hit the bike which was tossed up in the air and thrown from the bridge into a nearby house beneath the flyover.
As Ranjith and Ramya, who were also thrown along with the bike, landed on the compound wall of the house, they suffered grievous injuries. Ranjith died on the spot, Ramya breathed her last while being rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital at Aasaripallam.
One Vipin Joe, 34, of Vellicode near Thuckalay, who was driving the car, also suffered injuries and was admitted to the medical college hospital.
Marthandam police are investigating.
