Government officials, political leaders and representatives of various organisations and people from different walks of life paid rich tributes to Babasaheb Ambedkar on his death anniversary in the districts of Kittur Karnataka on Saturday.
On the ‘Mahaparinirvan Divas’, officials and leaders lined up before the statues and busts of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and paid floral tributes. Official programmes were held in various government offices and institutions.
In Dharwad, Chief Executive Officer of Dharwad Zilla Panchayat Bhuvanesh Patil, Additional Deputy Commissioner Geetha C.D., Superintendent of Police Gunjan Arya and others garlanded the statue of Dr. Ambedkar located at Jubilee Circle.
Subsequently in the programme held at new auditorium of Deputy Commissioner of Dharwad, they performed puja and offered floral tributes to the portrait of Dr. Ambedkar. A host of officials, leaders of various communities including M. Aravind, Laxman Bakkai and others participated in the event.
In Gadag, Deputy Commissioner of Gadag C.N. Sridhar paid floral tributes to the portrait of Dr. Ambedkar on his 69th Mahaparinirvan Divas at the auditorium of ‘Zilladalita Bhavan’ on Saturday. Senior officials A.A. Kambalimath, Nanda Hanabaratti, Dr. Basavaraj Bommanahalli, Vasanth Madlur and others also paid tributes.
Similar programmes were held in the offices of district and taluk administrations across the districts of Belagavi, Haveri, Uttara Kannada, Vijayapura, and Bagalkot, with scores of leaders and officials paying rich tributes to the architect of Indian Constitution. In some places lectures were also held on the contribution of Dr. Ambedkar.
