Southern Railway to operate special trains, add AC coaches due to flight cancellations

To provide alternative transport for passengers affected by the cancellation of flights by IndiGo airlines, Southern Railway will operate special trains and provide additional air-conditioned coaches in some trains. 

A press release said, one additional AC  three-tier coach would be provided for long distance trains operated on Saturday including the Tiruchchirappalli–Jodhpur Humsafar Express (20482), Dr. MGR Chennai Central–Thiruvananthapuram Central Superfast Express (12695), Dr MGR Chennai Central – Mangaluru Central Superfast Express (12601), and the Chennai Beach–Mumbai CST Superfast Express (22158).   

Similarly, one AC three-tier coach would be added to the Thiruvananthapuram Central-Dr MGR Chennai Central Superfast Express (12696), and Mumbai CST-Chennai Beach Superfast Express (22157) to be operated on Sunday (December 7) and the Jodhpur–Tiruchirappalli Humsafar Express (20481) train to be operated on December 10. 

Special trains would be operated on the Secunderabad-Chennai Egmore (7146) starting at 6.40 p.m. on Saturday and Chennai Egmore-Secunderabad (7147) on Sunday starting at 12.30 p.m. 

Other special trains include the Nagercoil to Tambaram superfast (December 7) and the Tambaram-Nagercoil superfast (December 8).
