Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has approached the Erode district administration and the police for permission to hold its public meeting at an alternative venue near the Vijayamangalam toll gate, after the earlier site was found unsuitable for the expected turnout and vehicle parking.

On Sunday (December 7, 2025), K.A. Sengottaiyan, chief coordinator of the party’s high-level administrative committee, submitted letters to the District Collector S. Kandasamy and Superintendent of Police A. Sujatha seeking approval to conduct party president Vijay’s meeting on a seven-acre plot at Pavalathampalayam.

The police inspected the site and deemed it inadequate for the projected crowd and parking requirements, prompting the party to identify a more viable location.

On Monday (December 8), P. Sasikumar, joint secretary of the TVK, Perundurai South Union, filed fresh petitions with the Collector and the SP, requesting permission to hold the meeting between noon and 6 p.m. on December 16 at Moongilpalayam village in Perundurai block. The petition stated that the proposed 16-acre site belongs to a temple, with an additional 10 acres nearby for parking. It also noted that Mr. Vijay will address the gathering from a vehicle and sought necessary security arrangements. The petition estimated an attendance of 10,000 cadre and 20,000 members of the public, and added that pregnant women, children, and the elderly will not be permitted.

Superintendent of Police A. Sujatha told The Hindu that the party had withdrawn its Sunday petition and that the police are currently processing the one submitted on Monday.
