The Left parties, joined by the VCK, led protests in Krishnagiri on Monday (December 8, 2025) against the Labour Codes notified by the government earlier this month.
The protests, with the participation of the cadre of CPI-M, CPI and VCK, condemned the roll out of the new Labour Codes subsuming 29 various legislations for labour amid widespread opposition across the parties and trade unions.
The Labour Codes were slammed as anti-worker, and pro-corporates and management, leading to the roll back of centuries long struggle for labour rights. According to the Left parties, the Labour Codes were a direct assault on the the workers and it stripped all the protections that were granted by statutory legislations until now. The Labour Codes left workers at the mercy of the management, the protesters said.
They demanded that the BJP-led Union government immediately roll back the Codes and revert to the pre-existing labour legislations.
