All depts. to work in close coordination for New Years’ celebrations

The Bengaluru South City Corporation held a review meeting for preparations for New Year’s Eve (NYE) celebrations on Friday.

Additional Commissioner Naveen Kumar Raju directed that all departments should work in close tandem with the city police. He also directed a WhatsApp group to be created with representatives of all relevant departments to coordinate efforts.

Koramangala and J. P. Nagar particularly sees high footfall during NYE in South Corporation limits.

He directed Bescom officials to ensure that all streetlights in and around the pub clusters of Koramangala and J.P. Nagar are fully functional, and there is uninterrupted power supply during NYE in public places. He said temporary lighting arrangements must be installed immediately in poorly lit areas.

While the police have earmarked 10 beds at St. John’s Hospital, beds will be reserved in Jayanagar Government Hospital as well. A total of six to seven teams, comprising doctors, nurses, and ambulances, will be deployed in areas identified by the police.

Mr. Raju instructed the Solid Waste Management Department to promptly clear waste generated during the celebrations, including firecracker debris, alcohol bottles discarded in public areas, and other waste materials.

To avoid accidents during NYE, officials were instructed to install mandatory signboards at all ongoing city corporation work sites in and around Koramangala and J.P. Nagar, and to immediately repair any poor footpaths.
