Officials of Food Safety Department have suspended the food safety licence of a recreation club at Krishnankoil for selling ‘fried fish’ with unauthorised artificial colour.
Besides, the officials have imposed a fine of ₹5,000 each to four shops in Rajapalayam and Srivilliputtur for indulging in food business without food safety registration certificates.
In a statement, Virudhunagar District Food Safety Designated Officer S. Mariappan said that the food analysis report of the samples of the fried fish that were lifted from the recreation club a few days back, revealed usage of unauthorised artificial colour. Since, the food samples were declared as “unsafe” for human consumption, the food safety license was suspended. The kitchen of the club should not function till further orders. Legal action would be taken against the club, the statement said.
A tution centre at Govindan Colony in Srivilliputtur that had been selling food items without food safety registration certificate and was imposed a fine of ₹5,000.
Similarly, a fast-food joint in Aruppukottai was imposed ₹5,000 fine for using unauthorised plastic goods for serving eatables.
Another shop near Old Bus Stand in Virudhunagar was imposed a fine of ₹1,000 for serving snacks on printed papers.
