A review meeting was held at the Coimbatore International Airport on Monday (December 15, 2025) to discuss the preparedness for handling disruptions in flight services due to fog during the winter.
Airport Director Mohammad Arif said all stakeholders, including representatives from airlines, officials from the Airports Authority of India and the Central Industrial Security Force, took part in the meeting.
“Even though fog is not cause of concern in Coimbatore airport, presence of fog in airports like Delhi is having a cascading effect in the operations of other airports. The meeting, which is usually held across all airports in winter, discussed measures to be taken to handle the situation proactively” he said.
According to him, one flight from Coimbatore to Delhi was cancelled and two were delayed on Monday due to fog-related issues at the destination airport.
A meeting of the Airport Environment Management Committee (AEMC) was held at the airport on Monday, in coordination with officials from the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation.
Joint inspections were carried out around the airport areas to identify locations where waste is being dumped. Officials discussed measures to be taken to mitigate bird activity in the operational area of the airport.
On Tuesday (December 16, 2025), two IndiGo flights from Coimbatore to Hyderabad and Chennai stood cancelled due to operational requirements.
