Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association (MADITSSIA) along with Federation of Associations of Small Industries of India (FASII) will jointly organise “MSME Connect 2025”, a vendor development programme‑cum‑industrial exhibition, at MADITSSIA Hall here on December 18 and 19.
MADITSSIA vice‑president (II) L. Aravind told presspersons that the initiative was aimed at boosting entrepreneurship by linking local micro and small enterprises with Central PSUs and government departments.
He said PSUs were mandated to procure 25% of their requirements from MSEs and the programme would help more Tamil Nadu units register on the Government e‑Marketplace (GeM) and expand to national‑level government buyers. “PSUs and departments will set up stalls to display the items they require and offer handholding support. Madurai will become a hub for MSME growth,” he said.
The exhibition, open from 10 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. with free entry, will be inaugurated at 11 a.m. on Thursday. Technical officials from organisations such as Integral Coach Factory, Southern Railway, NLC, BHEL, IOCL, Power Grid Corporation, SIDBI, and NSIC will interact with entrepreneurs and explain vendor registration and procurement procedures.
Seminars on vendor registration, procurement norms and GeM portal registration, including sessions led by Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project officials, will be held from noon to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the first day and from 10.30 a.m. to noon on the second day. MSME officials said the Ministry was funding the programme while MADITSSIA’s Business Information Centre will guide new and existing entrepreneurs on registration, licences, loans and other formalities for a nominal fee, with the larger goal of nurturing a vibrant MSME ecosystem in Madurai.
