The Mangaluru city police have arrested two persons against whom non-bailable warrants were issued by the courts for their failure to appear at the criminal trial.
The police team, headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police K. Srikanth, on December 16 arrested Abdul Ravoof, 48, of Kasaragod in Kerala. He was an accused in 19 cases in Kasaragod and six criminal cases in Kavoor and Konaje police stations of Mangaluru city. Non-bailable warrants had been issued by courts in a case each at Mangaluru and Kasaragod. The court had declared him as an offender in connection with five cases registered in Konaje police station of Mangaluru city. The team has handed him to the Kavoor police for further legal action.
Theft accused
The Mangaluru East police have arrested Faisal of Ullal and Nitin Kumar of Mysuru for their alleged involvement in the theft of a gold chain belonging to a 70-year-old woman from a village in Bhatkal Rural Police Station limits on December 13. The police said the two were also involved in theft of a motorcycle from a parking area in Yeyyadi on December 12.
In a statement, the police said Faisal was accused in a total of 42 criminal cases, including cases of murder, robbery, dacoity, and theft registered in Mangaluru, Puttur, Belthagady, Kadaba, Vitla, Udupi, Karkala, Manipal, Shirva, Kushal Nagar, and Kerala. Courts had issued a non-bailable warrant in 10 cases for his failure to appear at the criminal trial.
