Though the RO water plants of the government are becoming popular in rural areas, it is becoming difficult for the government to manage them, according to Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department Minister Priyank Kharge.
Disclosing this while replying to Congress member U.B. Banakar during Question Hour in the Assembly, Mr. Kharge noted that RO plants were being put up by various agencies, including the private ones, through CSR funds. While some of them had made arrangements for their regular maintenance, most of them did not have such arrangements. This had become difficult for the village panchayats who were entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining them, he explained.
He said the RDPR Department was trying to put in a system for their maintenance. A blue print in this regard was being prepared to ensure permanent solution for their maintenance.
“We are talking to several firms that manufacture RO plants to know if they could take up maintenance of the public RO plants in rural areas. While they are ready to sell their products to us, they are not ready to take up maintenance work,” he said.
