The Coimbatore Corporation aims year-end completion of 503.67 km of tar road restoration under the ₹200 crore special fund for 2025–26.
According to Coimbatore Corporation data, of the 3,456 planned road works, 3,067 covering 443.63 km have been completed. Officials said the remaining stretches are expected to be finished by December 30.
In addition, tenders have been called for laying asphalt overlay on 1,919 roads covering 25,093 sq. metres at an estimated cost of ₹200 crore, and these works are currently under way, the officials added.
The Corporation has undertaken 5,215 road works over the past three years under schemes such as the Tamil Nadu Urban Road Infrastructure Programme (TURIP), the Nagarpura Salai Mempattu Thittam (NSMT), the State Finance Commission (SFC) special fund, and the Corporation’s general fund. These works, covering a total of 860.69 km at an estimated cost of ₹415.06 crore, have been completed.
24×7 drinking water supply scheme
The 24×7 drinking water supply scheme is being implemented at an estimated cost of ₹646.71 crore in the 60 wards that existed prior to the 2011 expansion of Corporation limits. Of the 33 overhead tanks planned, 30 have been completed and the remaining are under construction. Of the 75 km of main water transmission pipelines proposed, 66.25 km have been laid so far, while 1,747.63 km of the proposed 1,798 km of distribution pipelines have been completed. Of the 1.5 lakh planned house service connections, 1,41,062 have been provided. Currently, 95,947 households are receiving continuous 24×7 water supply, while the remaining connections receive intermittent supply.
Underground sewerage works
As part of the underground sewerage works in Kurichi and Kuniyamuthur, undertaken at a cost of ₹591.14 crore under the AMRUT scheme, a 30.53 MLD (million litres per day) sewage treatment plant (STP) has been completed. Of the 41,318 planned house service connections, 7,435 have been provided, leaving 33,883 pending.
In Vadavalli, Veerakeralam, Kavundampalayam, and Thudiyalur, works costing ₹922.16 crore are 55% complete, including a 34.92 MLD STP. The project plans 67,545 house service connections.
Works in Vellakinaru, Chinnavedampatti, and Saravanampatti (₹318.20 crore) are 55% complete, with 16,090 house service connections planned.
In the Ondipudur area, works costing ₹179.28 crore have reached 96% completion, with 30,128 house service connections planned.
