The Agri and All Trade Chamber and one of its platforms ‘You Export’ (YE) will be organising a seminar titled ‘MDU Raising’ on December 20 at the Agro Food Trade Centre in Sikandar Chavadi in Madurai at 5.30 p.m.

In a joint press release, Chamber president S. Rethinavelu and YE president K. Thiruppathirajan said although several developmental projects were implemented, there was a widespread concern that Madurai, the gateway to southern Tamil Nadu, had not achieved the growth it truly deserved.

In this context, the recent assurance given by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin during the Investors Conclave held in Madurai that Madurai will be developed into an industrial city and the release of the Madurai Master Plan, 2044, outlining the development roadmap for the next 20 years was encouraging.

The objective of the seminar is to know about the various developmental projects currently being implemented for Madurai, to deliberate on the projects proposed in the Madurai Master Plan, to engage in constructive discussions to impress upon the State government and Madurai Corporation on additional schemes and infrastructure required to ensure comprehensive development. The announcement of various Industrial Cluster zones in the Madurai Master Plan, along with the planning of exclusive path ways for non-motorised transport to streamline Madurai road traffic is highly commendable, they said.

With the vision of transforming Madurai into a clean city with robust infrastructure, and promoting its growth in industry, trade, exports, tourism, and excellence in water management, it is essential that not only the Central, State governments and local bodies, but also individuals concerned over the development of Madurai should involve in the developmental activities.

Based on this principle, they said that they were establishing a trust by the name ‘Madurai City Development Trust’. All organisations with similar objectives and activists were welcome to join the initiative. Funds required for various developmental projects will be mobilised though CSR funds also. Our goal is to transform Madurai into ‘Sparkling Madurai’, they said.
