The Telangana Police have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the alleged phone-tapping case, as per an official memorandum issued by the Director General of Police.
The SIT has been formed with an immediate effect to investigate the case registered at Panjagutta police station and will function under the overall supervision of V.C. Sajjanar, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City.
The team comprises Ambar Kishore Jha, Commissioner of Police, Ramagundam, S.M. Vijay Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Siddipet, Ritiraj, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Madhapur, K. Narayan Reddy, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Maheshwaram, M. Ravinder Reddy, Group Commander, Greyhounds, K.S. Rao, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rajendra Nagar, P. Venkatagiri, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Jubilee Hills, who has been designated as the investigating officer, Sridhar, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Telangana Anti Narcotics Bureau, and Nagender Rao, Deputy Superintendent of Police, HMRL.
According to the memorandum, the team has been directed to complete the investigation and file the charge sheet expeditiously, while maintaining the highest levels of professional competence throughout the probe.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has extended the police custody of Prabhakar Rao in the alleged phone tapping case till December 25, 2025 and directed that he be released on December 26, 2025.
