The Hyderabad Disaster Response & Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), on Friday, reclaimed 20 acres of government land in two operations respectively in Hyderabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts.
In the first instance, the agency secured about seven acres of government land which included a water body, at Mohammed Nagar-Lalita Bagh area in Kandikal village of Bandlaguda Jagir. The 9.11 acres of original piece of land surrounded by thickly populated residential area, has been in legal wrangles for some time now. Two acres were encroached and houses were constructed on the land.
Attempts are being made to encroach the remaining seven acres too, by filling up a water body, the existence of which HYDRAA confirmed from the Survey of India maps. A statement from HYDRAA informed that the illegal occupant had been fined ₹1 crore for filing a false case, despite which he is continuing his claim on the land.
HYDRAA has also reclaimed another piece of land in Nizampet, upon a request from the Revenue department officials, a statement from the agency informed. Acting on the directions of HYDRAA chief A.V. Ranganath, HYDRAA officials conducted field inspection, and concluded that four acres of land had already been occupied where permanent residential structures came up. Without touching those houses, the agency removed temporary structures from the remaining 13 acres of land, and provided fencing and sign boards.
