Seminar on field studies in anthropology held at University of Mysore

A two-day national seminar on ‘Essence of Field Studies in Anthropological Research’ was organised by the Department of Studies in Anthropology, University of Mysore, in collaboration with the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC), under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan grants.

University of Mysore registrar M.K. Savitha inaugurated the seminar on December 22. Senior academicians N.B. Ramachandra and S. Basavarajappa were present on the occasion.

The inaugural session featured a lecture on ‘Entrepreneurship – Concepts and Innovation’ by Amulya, a professor at the B.N. Bahadur Institute of Management Studies (BIMS), University of Mysore. She elaborated on entrepreneurship concepts, innovation and invention, and highlighted their relevance from an anthropological perspective.

The second session was delivered by Prof. Ramachandra, Department of Studies in Genetics and Genomics, University of Mysore, on ‘Family History Study as a Road Map for Understanding Genetics and Genomics‘.

The third session was handled by Prof. Basavarajappa, chairman, Department of Studies in Anthropology, University of Mysore, who spoke on ‘Research Methods and Their Applications in Field Research’.
