The Nehru Group of Institutions (NGI) launched its community radio station, Nehru Rhythm 88.4 MHz, at the Nehru Institute of Engineering and Technology (NIET), Thirumalayampalayam, Coimbatore, on Monday.
The event was formally inaugurated by B. K. Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, renowned educationalist from Coimbatore, who emphasised the vital role of community radio in empowering society, promoting local culture, and providing a platform for meaningful communication.
The programme was held in the presence of P. Krishnadas, Honorary Trade Commissioner of Mauritius – India and Chairman & Managing Trustee, Nehru Group of Institutions, and P. Krishnakumar, CEO & Secretary, Nehru Group of Institutions. In their addresses, they highlighted the vision behind Nehru Rhythm 88.4 MHz and its potential to nurture student talent, encourage creativity, and strengthen community engagement.
Nehru Rhythm 88.4 MHz aims to broadcast educational content, cultural programmes, awareness initiatives, and student-led shows, thereby acting as a bridge between the institution and the community.
