The Delhi police on Tuesday scrutinised CCTV footage of the alleged assault on a passenger by an Air India Express pilot at the Indira Gandhi International Airport .The incident took place on December 19.

An FIR was registered on December 22, after which the victim, Ankit Dewan, was called to record a detailed statement, undergo a medical examination, and collect evidence.

Taking to X, Mr. Dewan said the police showed him the CCTV footage of the incident, which “clearly showed” that it was Virendra Sejwal who began the physical assault.

“I probably had a concussion after the first blow to my head, because I do not remember the repeated blows later, and I was dragged across the floor by Sejwal. It is absolutely clear in the footage that Sejwal started the physical assault, and was absolutely manic while doing it,” Mr. Dewan wrote on an X post.

He said that medical reports have revealed a fracture of his left nasal bone.

Mr. Sejwal, on the other hand, who has filed a counter-complaint, told his lawyer that the altercation occurred between “two passengers” and that the company is not responsible for his actions.

The police has said the investigation is under way and further evidence is being collected.
