CITU’s Shramik Utsav in Visakhapatnam from Sunday (December 27)

District Collector M. N. Harendhira Prasad will inaugurate the ‘Shramik Utsav’, being organised by the CITU in the city on Sunday (December 27).

Giving details to media persons, here, on Friday (December 26), CITU State general secretary Ch. Narasinga Rao said that the utsav, being organised on the ground behind the AU Convention Hall, on the Beach Road, as part of the 18th All India conference of CITU being held in the city, would be on till January 2. Film actor Prakash Raj will attend as chief guest at the inaugural function. There would be cultural events, 12 different types of science exhibitions, literary meetings, cartoon shows, screening of short films, book exhibition, photo expo and an exhibition on human anatomy, on all the days.

Noted singer Goreti Venkanna, poet and lyricist Suddala Ashok Teja, GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg, actors Rohini, Madala Ravi, film director Bobby, director and actor Raja Murugan and director Attada Srujan and a host of other eminent personalities would attend on different days of the festival. Folk dances like ‘Gara nruthyam’, Kathakali and Mohini Attam would be performed during the festival by artistes from different States. Songs and ballets would presented by artistes to oppose the privatisation of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP).

There would be programmes on different themes like — secularism, social justice, gender equality, ‘say no to drugs – protect future generations’, ‘equal pay for equal work’ and ‘food, health, education and right to employment’ on different days during the festival. Mr. Narasinga Rao appealed to make the events a success by participating in large numbers.
