Traffic diversions announced for Vaikunta Ekadasi at Srirangam

The Tiruchi City Police have notified traffic diversions in the city from 2 p.m. December 29 to 2 p.m. December 31 in view of the Vaikunta Ekadasi festival at Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple. The Paramapada Vasal at the temple will be opened early on December 30.

As per the traffic diversion plan, freight vehicles will not be allowed in Srirangam and Tiruvanaikoil areas and parking of vehicles is not allowed on Uthirai Streets.

All city buses headed to Srirangam from Chathiram, Central, and Panjapur Bus Stand will go via Anna Salai, Odathurai Bridge, Mambazhasalai, Gandhi Road, JAC Corner, EVS Salai, and Srirangam Bus Stand to drop passengers and return via Amma Mandapam, Mambazhasalai, Cauvery Bridge, Odathurai to reach Chathiram Bus Stand.

Buses operating from Chathiram Bus Stand to Lalgudi and Manachanallur should go via Anna Salai, Odathurai Bridge, Mambazhasalai, Thiruvanaikovil Trunk Road, check post-6, and Kollidam Bridge, and return via Thiruvanaikovil Trunk Road to reach Chathiram Bus Stand. These buses will not be allowed into the Srirangam bus stand.

Buses coming from Chennai, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Thuraiyur, and Cuddalore routes will have to take the Chennai Bypass and pass through Sanjeevi Nagar. All mofussil buses from Chathram Bus Stand will have to go via Oyyamari Road to reach Chennai Bypass and return in the same direction.

Vehicles of important persons with passes will have to come via Mambazhasalai, Amma Mandapam Road, Raghavendra Arch, Mela Vaasal, and should be parked on the west, north, and south Chithirai streets. These vehicles should leave Srirangam via Vadakku Vaasal and Panchakarai.

All outstation buses and vans coming to Srirangam should be parked at the parking lot near the Yatri Nivas or at the parking area at Singaperumalkoil. All devotees coming on two- wheelers via Panchakarai Road should go via Moolathoppu and Melavasal and park around the Teppakulam. The vehicles can also go via Nelson Road to be parked at the Srimad Andavan Arts and Science College grounds while autorickshaws should be parked at Melur Neduntheru Mandhai.

City Police Commissioner N. Kamini, in a press release, has urged the public to adhere to the traffic diversions and park the vehicles at the designated areas.
