Senior leader of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former Minister T. Harish Rao alleged that the Congress had spoiled every established system in the State, including the legislature, and as against its demand for holding sittings for at least 45 days a year when in Opposition, the sessions were held only for 40 days in two years.
In an informal chat with newspersons on the eve of the winter session of the Assembly on Sunday, he reminded that the BRS government in the past had conducted the sessions on an average of 32 days a year compared to Congress’s 20. The Congress government had run the Assembly for 24 days in 2024 and for just 16 days in 2025.
Of the 40 days of sitting during the last two years, two days went for condolence motions, three days for tabling white papers, one day for discussion of the Kaleshwaram Commission report and one day for backward classes reservation enhancement. He demanded that the government run this session at least for 15 working days and the BRS was ready to participate in the debate on any issue brought up by the government. He also appealed to the government to take up discussion on the issues raised by BRS too.
Mr. Harish Rao demanded a discussion on the government writing a letter to the Ministry of Jal Shakti to clear Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme with 45 tmc ft water utilisation against the originally intended 90 tmc ft, urea shortage, HILT policy, incomplete crop loan waiver, crop bonus, irregular Rythu Bandhu, food poisoning in residential schools, employees’ issues and others.
