Two engineering students riding a two-wheeler were killed in a road accident at Tirumayam in the district on Monday.
Police identified the deceased as M. Mohamed and S. Mohamed Ibrahim, both aged 18 years, and residents of Puduvayal near Karaikudi.
The two were first year students of a private engineering college near Tirumayam.
Police sources said the two students were returning home from the college in the afternoon on a motorcycle when the two-wheeler rammed a tipper lorry from behind while it was taking a turn causing their death on the spot. The bodies were taken to the Government Hospital, Tirumayam. Tirumayam police are investigating.
