Chittoor district administration made all arrangements for the smooth conduct of Vaikunta Ekadasi on Tuesday (December 30, 2025), and to face the New Year rush at temples, particularly the Sri Swayambhu Varasidhi Vinayaka Swamy Devasthanam at Kanipakam.
The Kanipakam temple is likely to witnesses huge rush of devotees on the three days — Vaikunta Ekadasi (December 30), Vaikunta Dwadasi (December 31) and on New Year (January 1). The district administration is expecting a devotee turnout of 60,000 each on the three days. The temple authorities were asked to set up queue lines inside and outside the temple to facilitate smooth darshan of the devotees and also to ensure that any stampede-like situation does not arise.
The APSRTC authorities were asked to run special services to the temple town. Electricity department officials were asked to set up generators to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the temple and take up illumination work of the temple. A fire tender will also be made available at the temple and the Medical and Health department officials would be arranging medical camps at the temple.
The temple management stopped ‘Antaralaya Darshanams’ for the coming three days to facilitate darshan to more number of devotees. A joint command control room will be set up to monitor security arrangements, smooth flow of traffic and 200 police personnel would be deployed for bandobust.
In Anantapur district, Superintendent of Police (SP) P. Jagadeesh supervised the security arrangements in the district to meet Vaikunta Ekadasi rush. He visited the ancient Chennakesava Swamy temple in the town and monitored the police bandobust, traffic management, CCTV surveillance and response mechanism to meet any eventuality.
Mr. Jagadeesh said visible policing had been increased at all temples to prevent chain snatchings and other offences and facilities were being made for smooth darshan to women and physically-challenged persons.
