The management of Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Srisailam, which had earlier decided to provide ‘sparsha darshan’ to local Chenchu tribals on one day of every month, will start the same from ‘Vaikunta Ekadasi’ falling on Tuesday (December 30).
In a joint statement on Monday, the temple trust board chairman P. Ramesh Naidu and executive officer (EO) M. Srinivasa Rao said that the Chenchus will be allowed to enter through the queue line at the Old Donation Counter from 11 a.m..
Mr. Ramesh Naidu said Chenchus have a special place in the history and traditions of Srisailam temple. The local Chenchu tribals consider Bhramaramba Devi as their daughter and Mallikarjuna Swamy as son-in-law, he added.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that the Chenchus were being invited for the ‘Brahmotsava Kalyanotsav’, which would be held during the ‘Sankranti Brahmotsavams’. The Chenchus will offer new clothes, ‘yagyapaveetam’, and waist belt to the presiding deities.
Chenchus have also been given special invitation to participate in the ‘Varalakshmi Vratam’ performed during ‘Sravana Masam’, and were also invited for the recently-concluded ‘Koti Deepotsavam’ held during ‘Karthika Masam’.
The temple administration is taking the help of local ITDA in identifying the Chenchus for the free special sparsha darshan.
