Tamil Maanila Congress leader G.K. Vasan on Tuesday said the talks on seat sharing for next year’s Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu was yet to begin among the constituents of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). He described as “rumours” reports that the seats had already been apportioned among allies.
Mr. Vasan told media persons that the NDA, under the leadership of AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami in Tamil Nadu, was sure to win in the ensuing election. With growing anti-incumbency against the ruling DMK, the AIADMK, and its allies are set to emerge victorious, he said.
Denying the seat allotment reports, which went viral in social media a few days ago, Mr. Vasan said it was the handiwork of some mischief mongers. “We are yet to begin talks and when it is finalised, it will be shared,” he said.
Law and order
Describing the State government’s performance as poor in every sphere, Mr. Vasan said there was absolutely no law and order and the government was not in a position to post a regular Director-General of Police (Head of Police Force).
The attack on a Odisha youth by some teenagers near Tiruttani recently was highly condemnable, he said urging the Chief Minister to take stringent action against the guilty.
