Special drive against drunk-driving: 3,716 cases booked

The city traffic police have booked as many as 3,716 motorists for drunk-driving during a special enforcement drive conducted between December 22 to December 29.

According to a release, during the week-long drive, the police checked over 2.66 lakh vehicles and booked 3,716 motorists.

The police said that the intensive checks were carried out at key junctions and accident-prone stretches, especially during night hours. The drive aims to deter reckless driving and reduce fatal accidents on city roads.

Authorities have stated that the special drive would continue on a regular basis as part of sustained efforts to improve road safety and prevent loss of lives due to drunk-driving.
