P. Saravanan assumed office as DIG of Police Tirunelveli range, here on Thursday. He previously served as the SP of Villupuram district.
Addressing the media, he said that law and order would be maintained across four districts of Tirunelveli range. “For the upcoming elections, all necessary precautionary and security measures will be implemented to ensure they take place in a peaceful manner.”
He added that coordinated initiatives will be carried out to control the increasing number of road accidents in the region.

N. Manivannan, who served as Commandant, Tamil Nadu Special Police II Battalion, Avadi, assumed office as Commissioner of Police of Tirunelveli city.
He succeeded Santosh Hadimani, who was transferred to Salem as DIG of Salem range.
The Commissioner emphasized that special initiatives have already been implemented in Tirunelveli city to control caste-based issues. “We will review these measures in detail, make necessary changes and take strict action to ensure an environment free of caste related conflicts.”
He added that the law and order in the city was currently stable, noting that police will further closely monitor events and act without compromise to maintain peace and public safety.
Speaking on police shortage and patrolling issues, he said, “The number and strength of the police will be reviewed and appropriate measures will be taken to address manpower shortages and strengthen patrolling activities.”

V. Prasannakumar took charge as the new SP of Tirunelveli district. He was the DCP of Tirunelveli City West.
He said that top priority was to ensure social unity and an environment free from caste and religious conflicts across the Tirunelveli district. He warned that strict legal action will be taken against those attempting to incite caste-based violence in the district.
