President of Dharwad district unit of Janata Dal (Secular) Gururaj Hunasimarad has accused Hubballi-Dharwad West MLA Arvind Bellad of allotting houses to ineligible beneficiaries under the PM Awas Yojna (PMAY).
Mr. Hunasimarad met Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed in Hubballi on Thursday and submitted a memorandum to him seeking immediate inquiry into the allotment process and action against those responsible for allotment of houses to ineligible beneficiaries.
He said that MLA Arvind Bellad indiscriminately allotted 1,179 houses of KSDB at Lakamanahalli in Dharwad to his followers and their acquaintances without following any guidelines.
He urged the Minister to conduct a thorough inquiry in the issue and take action against those responsible for irregularities. He also pointed out the lack of basic amenities at the Lakamanahalli housing complex and urged the Minister to look into it.

Meanwhile, the former MLA and Dharwad district general secretary of Janata Dal (S) Veerabhadrappa Halaharavi has urged the State government to include 336 families, identified as eligible beneficiaries in 2011, in the current list of beneficiaries of the housing scheme, in case they have been left out.
Addressing presspersons in Hubballi on Thursday, Mr. Halaharavi said that a list of 336 eligible families was prepared during his tenure, but the houses were not allotted then.
He said that he will welcome the State government’s decision to provide housing if the 336 families are included in the new list of 1,008 families which are being allotted houses in a programme to be held in Hubballi on Saturday.
However, if their names are missing in the new list, then, they will be forced to stage an agitation, he said.
