The Mysuru district police have arrested two persons for allegedly stealing five cows from Vokkalageri in Nanjangud town.
A statement from Mysuru district police has identified the accused as Suleman Pasha and Siddiq Pasha, both residents of Kesare in Mysuru.
The Nanjangud town police took up an investigation after registering a case based on a complaint from Shivakumar, a resident of Vokkalageri who said unidentified thieves had stolen five cows on January 6.
Based on information obtained from informers, CCTV footage, and other scientific evidence, the case was solved with the arrest of both accused on January 22, the police said.
“During interrogation, it was found that the stolen cows were sold at a slaughterhouse in Usmaniya Block in Kesare,” the police said.
The police have also detected five other theft cases committed earlier by the accused in Mysuru district limits under Nanjangud Town, H.D. Kote, T. Narasipura, Biligere and Bilikere police stations.
The police seized cash worth ₹30,000 and two cars used for committing the thefts from the accused. Both have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
Two other accused involved in this crime are yet to be traced, and efforts to arrest them are under way.
Mysuru district Police Superintendent Mallikarjun Baladandi has appreciated the officers and staff for detecting the case.
